Fuel

What fuels you?

I’m fortunate that I can operate angry. I’m not sure why but when I get angry I get focused. Recently, throughout the day my rage bubbles up and I channel it into a page.

I haven’t had anger management issues since high school. It’s like trying to hold three beach balls under water at the same time. Right now rage is my fuel. I take it out on art, lifting weights and playing basketball and still have three quarters of a tank left at the end of the day.

If you find yourself with too much emotion in some form or another, try and benefit from it. 90% of stats or made up (or something like that) but my shooting percentage after a hard foul is around 80%.

EDIT!!!

I thought I might add Pantera’s “Mouth for War” because it’s a whole fucking song describing what I was trying to say in this post.

Revenge I’m screaming revenge again Wrong I’ve been wrong for far too long Been constantly so frustrated I’ve moved mountains with less When I channel my hate to productive I don’t find it hard to impress
[Chorus] Bones in traction Hands break to hone raw energy Bold and disastrous My ears can’t hear what you say to me Hold your mouth for the war Use it for what isn’t for Speak the truth about me Determined
Possessed I feel a conquering will down inside me Strength The strength of many to crush Who might stop me My strength is in number And my soul lies in every one The releasing of anger can better any medicine under the sun
[Chorus]
There comes a time within everyone to close your eyes to What’s real No comprehension to fail I vacuum the wind for my sail Can’t be the rest Let others waste my time Owning success is the bottom line. Like a knife into flesh After life is to death Pulling and punching the rest of duration No one can piss on this determination

Confidence

“Doubt is an educator.” I don’t know who said it but I like it.

Last week when preview number eight of Game of Thrones went up one panel threw me into a tailspin. I spent and hour looking at the other preview seeing if I matched up. I should have spent that hour or so sketching on why my ego was smashed. One eye on one face did me in and I was toast.

Next time instead of trying to build myself up by tearing others down I should work on my issues. I shouldn’t have to find issues in others art to make myself feel better. Next time my confidence is waning I’ll sketch. Stop and think instead of react.

Muck and Mire

Arya in the sewer

Ahh, lil’ Arya making her way through the muck and the mire. I ALMOST placed her in the center of the sewer opening to create an eye but…. I thought pushing her to the side was more interesting. Plus I couldn’t figure out if the symbolic nature of an eye fit the situation. She caught a glimps of her father’s future? Is she the eye of the storm? Hmmm oh well, what’s done is done.

This image reminds me of that Cold War Kids song “Hang me up to dry”

Long Weeks

Some weeks are better than others. I have to say this week was an other. As in other worldly bad. Confession time.

I have problems dealing with serious issues. I deflect, compartmentalize and… flip it into humor. So, is that method really an issue? Yes and no. It has been for me because I just wouldn’t deal with problems. Ever. It’s way easier to make jokes. I’m learning! Gosh.

So after one of the hardest weeks if not THE king crapper of my life I somehow watched this Nick Swardson standup special. I fucking love this monkey joke. So here I go again. Humor. Thank you.

Right vs Wrong

Let me state from the outset that I believe in an objective truth. I am typing on this keyboard. That is a fact jack.

I want to address the area in between. I want to make a case for growing and learning instead of punishment and regression. No one else can live your life and it’s unfair to place judgement on someone without all the particulars. In some cases the particulars you can never have because you are not them.

On the flip side I do believe you can learn from others. You can look at them as a whole and decide if they are of the same guild or tribe. You need a pretty good sample size if you are going to say they are bad or wrong.

I think we should take time and take into account we don’t know everything going on within a person’s head. A judgement based on what a simple decision or choice appears to be from the outside is unfair. A right or wrong from the outside looks way different from the inside view.

Emotions seem to make for bad decisions but from the person making those choices it feels like the right thing to do at that time. A mom stealing food for her starving kid is an apples to oranges comparison but I think you get the point.

I’ll leave you guys with a song that seems to have contradictions but explains life. It’s complex and wisdom is earned. Earned by living. Not everything should be judged as a right or wrong but as living a life. I like living. Sometimes a mistake isn’t a mistake at all but breaking boundries and achieving life. A million people saying something is wrong doesn’t make it wrong. Own your life.

King’s X – Ooh Song

It’s not so simple anymore
Sometimes it can’t be done but then there is wisdom
To fix a broken door, and throw away the key Reject what doesn’t matter
Ooh…
It’s not so hard anymore
Sometimes it can be done, if there is wisdom
The house will shake the more Hang-on if you dream cause everything matters
Ooh…

It’s as simple as that 😉 Get some!

Nearly dead

Let me tell you something. I love rock’ n’ roll.

A nugget of info for you:

In modern applications of the liberal arts as curriculum in colleges or universities, the quadrivium may be considered as the study of number and its relationship to physical space or time: arithmetic was pure number, geometry was number in space, music number in time, and astronomy number in space and time. Morris Kline classifies the four elements of the quadrivium as pure (arithmetic), stationary (geometry), moving (astronomy) and applied (music) number.[
